Scenic City Chorus had an incredibly successful weekend at the annual Regional Competition and Convention in Lexington, KY. The chorus placed 4th overall in the competition, garnering a medal. Presto! Quartet (with two members from Scenic City) placed 4th in the quartet competition, winning a medal, and our illustrious director, Jennifer Cooke (a member of Presto! Quartet), was named Region 4 Coach of the Year by the membership!

The weekend is always a fun-filled time with friends from all over the Sweet Adelines International Region 4, which consists of parts of Ohio and Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, central and eastern Tennessee, and northern Alabama. The quartet competition begins at noon on Friday and the chorus competition begins at noon on Saturday. Awards are presented around 5:30 pm and then there is even more fun afterwards!

This year, various choruses hosted hospitality rooms where quartets and small choruses were free to pop in and out to sing. There were snacks and fun decorations that represented each host chorus. Scenic City and Metro Nashville choruses went together to host the “Follow Me to Tennessee” room complete with a Tennessee flag, a musical theme, and other memorabilia representing our home state. We were thrilled to have competing and even a few non-competing quartets entertain us.

We are already anticipating and preparing for next year’s competition weekend. The fun of singing together outweighs any ‘work’ there is to it, though.

We welcome visitors to our rehearsals to come and have fun with us, too! Join us any Monday night at 6:30 at Spring Creek Rd. Baptist Church, 1320 Spring Creek Rd., Chattanooga, TN, 37412.
